Kyle--

The increased weight shouldn't be a problem...even with the scale-up. Payload weight depending, of course. The fact that this model is a glider (i.e. lower wing loading) pays you the dividend of allowing the use of a lighter motor/controller/battery combination. Plan for a big, slow-turning prop. Should make for a good "loiterer".
100" prototype version will begin construction as soon as I get the Tipsy Nipper in production. Same outline, revised aerodynamics.
I'll be very interested to hear how your 'mutated' Medicine Man comes out!

<a href="#comment-17" rel="nofollow">@Ryan Grosswiler</a>
Ryan,

I also was experimenting some, and scaled the plans up to about 130% original size in order to hold more equipment. I have it rigged for 2 channel glider flight right now (elevator/rudder) but am working on constructing mounts for the motor and battery, with the prop being one that folds against the fuselage when not in use. I am concerned that all of the added weight will be very hard on the landings!

How is the 100" version going? Are you keeping with the same retro-style look?

I'm the designer of 'Medicine Man', and would be happy to help you out with your UAV experiments on my design. Do you know I have a 100" span version in the works? See my site at www.realkits.com!

The white lines are the path the plane is _supposed_ to fly, the yellow is the actual flight. Particularly on the last one, you can see the plane go "Eh.. no thanks. I'd rather check out something over that way..."

Care to point out to the uninitiated what makes you say that? The downward spiral looks fine to me, unless you're trying to contain it in some particular radius or something.
